Education

RYSA is a community started, based and run organization in a slum area in the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. It uses football to provide opportunities for positive community impact by offering a platform for personal and collective growth.

The idea is simple; playing football attracts youth and to be allowed to participate you need to complete your education and participate in community activities such as collecting garbage and plant trees. You need to be good behaved and stay out of “trouble”. In return you can participate in training but also be part of a larger community.

So far RYSA has been successful in attracting boys. Two times before RYSA, with support of RYSA Marafiki (marafiki: friends), has managed to go to the Gothia Cup in Sweden.

Now it is time for the Girls!

Girls are either “forgotten” or expected to take care of the home - with a vision of going to Gothia - girls are given a life changing experience and a vision of a better life possible which will inspire others.

We need your support!

Funding is of course key. Please find the Swedish Swish number 1236419188 or get in contact for other ways of money transfer. Funding companies/corporations can get visibility in various ways.  But there are other ways as well, spread the word, refer us to others that might be in position to support etc. Follow us on social media, share our appeals, “like” our postings.

Thank you for your support!

RYSA - changing lives

Christopher Njoroge Coordinator of Runda Youth Sports Association (RYSA)

RYSA started in the year 1996 with an aim of helping many young people live a more dignified life from the one of crime, drugs, alcohol, prostitution, early marriages and abortion. Many young people died from these anti-social activities.

We got the concept of RYSA from a renowned organization working with young people in the slums called Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA). Our young people faced similar challenges as their young people and after visiting them a number of times we bought the idea and after implementing it, it has helped many young people in our villages

We focus on sports, education, clean-up activities in the neighborhood, mentorship and motivational talks and today we have a cyber cafe offering internet services in the village. We have done all this through voluntary efforts. No one is paid a salary for  what we do.

It has been a long journey full of challenges but when we look back we have many reasons to celebrate when hundreds of young people are living a positive, focused lives and are involved in charging the society unlike there before.
When we first heard of the Gothia Cup 20 years ago, we tried to apply and got the invitation but we could not finance the trip. We have always wanted to participate but we lack finances to do so. We tried again this year and we got the invitation. We have a team of friends who have believed with us that it is possible for our team to participate in the Gothia cup Tournament this year.

Make our team from the slums go to Sweden to participate in the Annual Gothia Cup Soccer Tournament. Join us in making this a reality not a dream!
Every shilling, every kroner, every dollar or any other currency that you give towards this endeavor counts a lot!
